Yemen Health Minister Confirms Casualties in Houthi Attack on Ma'ashiq Presidential Palace

Yemeni Minister of Public Health and Population Qassem Buhaibeh announced on Thursday that five individuals were killed and 16 others sustained injuries following an attack on the Ma'ashiq Presidential Palace in the interim capital of Aden.

The minister stated that the casualties included members of the security detail and civilian employees stationed at the government complex. The assault, which involved a combination of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, mirroring the December 2020 attack on Aden International Airport that targeted government officials.

Minister Buhaibeh attributed the aggression to the Houthi militia, characterizing the strike as a deliberate attempt to destabilize the internationally recognized government. He emphasized that the government remains resolute in its commitment to serving the public despite the security challenges posed by the militant group.

Prime Minister Shayea Al-Zindani has affirmed that the cabinet will continue to operate and fulfill its national responsibilities from the capital. The administration remains steadfast in its mandate, signaling that such attacks will not deter the government from its administrative and operational duties.
