Houthi Militia Recloses Al-Saha-Karba Road Following Staged Media Event

The Houthi militia has once again closed the vital Al-Saha-Karba road in southern Taiz Governorate, only hours after allowing a limited number of vehicles to pass in a move described by local observers as a calculated public relations stunt.

Local sources confirmed that the temporary reopening of the route coincided with a coordinated effort by the militia to film the movement of vehicles. The operation appeared designed to generate propaganda footage suggesting a lifting of the blockade, only for the militia to restore full closure immediately after the filming concluded.

This recurring tactic highlights the militia's policy of utilizing humanitarian corridors as leverage for tactical and media purposes rather than addressing the severe needs of the civilian population. The blockade continues to exacerbate the suffering of residents in the Hujariya, Maqbanah, Jabal Habashi, and Al-Misrakh districts.

The persistent obstruction of this essential artery severely disrupts the daily movement of citizens and hinders the delivery of critical supplies, including food and essential goods. The closure forces transport vehicles to utilize difficult, alternative routes, significantly increasing transportation costs and placing an immense economic burden on local households.

By manipulating access to key roads, the Houthi militia maintains its strategy of pressure and military maneuvering at the expense of civilian welfare. Despite international calls to facilitate the free movement of goods and people, the militia shows no indication of abandoning these restrictive practices, further deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
