Two Civilians Killed by Houthi Landmine Blast Between Al-Bayda and Shabwa Provinces

At least two civilians were killed and several others sustained varying injuries following a landmine explosion planted by Houthi militias in the Nateh district of Al-Bayda province, near the border with the Bayhan district of Shabwa in eastern Yemen.

Local sources reported that the incident occurred in the Al-Saqiya area of Nateh district when a civilian vehicle, a Hilux transport truck, struck a landmine while traveling from the Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, toward the Al-Abr region in Hadhramaut province.

The blast resulted in the immediate death of two individuals, one of whom has been identified as Saleh Ali Jaber Al-Harnakash, while several other passengers suffered injuries of varying severity. The victims were transported for medical treatment as local authorities assessed the scene.

Sources noted that the closure of primary roads connecting the governorates has forced travelers and motorists to utilize rugged, unpaved secondary routes. This shift in transit routes has significantly increased exposure to the vast network of landmines and improvised explosive devices indiscriminately planted by Houthi forces, leading to a rising toll of civilian casualties.

This incident underscores the persistent threat posed by the deliberate targeting of secondary roads and transit corridors with explosive ordinance. The recurrent nature of these attacks continues to endanger the lives of civilians and travelers navigating the volatile routes between Yemeni provinces.
